Music: Melody, Harmony, and Polyphony

Here I am with my first hunt, a hunt that I’m really proud of finding. Her grace in music simply blew me away and so I decided to show her talent to you.
How I found her you may ask? It's a funny story! It was during a club retreat where I first discovered her talent. The irony of whom this her is? She's my cousin, and I never knew that she was this great until that day. We were all introducing ourselves to each other in the retreat when she was intrigued by a piano standing in the corner of the student lounge. I followed her towards the piano, she smiled at me as she slowly opened it, and then she played. I couldn't believe it at first; I was amazed because I didn't think she had it in her. She played so beautifully! So viewers, I'd like you all to meet my cousin, the pianist, Mukulika Dey!
Mukulika Dey, 18 years old

Mukulika Dey is a first year student studying health science in Marianopolis. She is a tiny girl with big dreams, and considers herself hardworking and passionate. Since she was little, she liked listening to classical and acoustic music which soon helped her realize how much she loved the piano. Her biggest inspiration for making her passion into a reality was her older cousin. Mukulika was astounded by how she played because she never took any lessons and so, she decided to give it a shot as well!
Mukulika couldn't afford any piano lessons hence she taught herself. She didn't have a piano of her own either, until her 16th birthday. Ever since then, she learnt to play some of her favorite songs watching YouTube tutorials. This became her guide to achieving her talent. The first song that she ever learnt to play was “Unfaithful” by Rihanna.
Her confusion about this talent was her hand coordination, and memorizing all those notes scared her as well. Her confession was that at one point, she gave up because she thought she couldn't play the instrument at all. Being a strong girl, Mukulika continued to play no matter how bad it sounded and with constant practice; she gave her first performance in a cultural show. She received so much positive encouragement after that she finally knew that this was what she wanted!
Coming to Marianopolis increased her work load for which she didn't have the time to play regularly nowadays. Nonetheless, Mukulika finds little time during weekends and she practices. She works very hard at school, but she also continues to follow her passion. It has been four years since and she hasn't stopped. Finally, having a hobby and making it a talent may seem impossible, but look at Mukulika! With all the hard work that she has put into playing the piano, she is nothing but proud!
Here is a little glimpse of her creativity:

AND The Hunt For Talent Begins: My First Blog!

TALENT, TALENT, TALENT…. The new commotion about talent is everywhere today from the five years old genius Arden Hayes on the Jimmy Kimmel show to a young aspiring singer like Christina Grimmie discovered on YouTube. If you search for talent, you can find talent. Talent can be an effortless skill or even a breathtaking ability.

Being a regular teenager in a small city like Montreal, I decided to take upon the challenge of searching for talent. My goal is to simply help people like you show your talent to the world. Talent doesn’t merely grow out of you; you need to work hard for it, and you must enjoy it! Most of us have a hard time showing off our talent because we’re nervous or even because people don’t notice us. Maybe from this experience, we might learn something new!

Montreal may be a small city, but it is undeniably filled with countless talents. Take the guy on the metro station singing for food for instance, that’s a talent! I remember one evening while I was waiting in the Lionnel-groux metro station and I heard an old man sing. He sang this simple song with a beat count of four, it almost sounded like "twinkle twinkle little star" and yet, it was so beautiful to hear.

I’m sure most of you (who live in Montreal) might have heard of Marianopolis College. But obviously, it is the strictest private college ever! Technically not, yes you may be surprised to hear this but, Marianopolis isn’t all about study, study, study. Surprisingly, Marianopolis is also filled with many magnificent talents. If you’re a student in Marianopolis, you might be able to observe it or even hear it if you try to pay a little attention to things around you. For instance, I’m sure most of you marianopolites can relate to this… the group of kids singing under the staircase with their guitar strings, it’s incredible! It’s really astonishing how you can find something as wonderful as a unique talent right under your nose and more shockingly in a place like school. I just find it amazing that apart from having a school life and a social life, kids actually have passions and wonderful hobbies that even turn out to be great talents.

So viewers, if you’re interested in knowing about some beautiful talents that Marianopolis has to share, please do check out this blog. I will try to post videos, pictures, and some amazing stories of students and how they discovered their talents. You may just be surprised with the confusions students have gone through before finding out about their talent, the confessions they made about their talents, and most importantly the creativity they used to demonstrate their talents. After all, any talent is a talent and every talent is unique, and those of you out there that hold extraordinary talents, SHOW IT and I’m sure people around you will definitely value it!
